Lanzarote : the black island
In the Canary Islands, our only stopover was on the island of Lanzarote, on the way to Senegal.
Like the other islands in the archipelago, Lanzarote is a volcanic island made of a vast land of lava: Montañas del Fuego.
In the national parc of Timafaya, the rangers put branches into lava holes, and the heat is so intense that they catch fire!
There are also many caves to visit, consequence of the multiple lava flows.
The ground on the island is black: color of the lava from the hundred volcanos on Lanzarote.
We spent a few days in Arrecife to prepare the boat and finalize the actions we will perform in Senegal.
